Wood Award Winner Selected

The Editor-in-Chief and members of the Board of Associate Editors have now selected and announced the winning author and paper in Marine Mammal Science for the F.G. Wood Award. We would like to congratulate Michelle Barbieri for her paper entitled "Using infrared thermography to assess seasonal trends in dorsal fin surface temperatures of free-swimming bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in Sarasota Bay, Florida." The rankings were especially close for the top three ranked papers. Papers were scored by the Editors based on importance to the field, originality, and overall quality. The winner will present her paper in a plenary session at the upcoming biennial conference in Tampa.

The second and third ranked authors and papers were: Katherine McHugh for her paper entitled "Severe Karenia brevis red tides influence juvenile bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) behavior in Sarasota Bay, Florida" and James Sheppard for his paper entitled "Dugong habitat use in relation to seagrass nutrients, tides, and diel cycles.
