Travel Grants

Travel grant for research in the Arctic

Students conducting marine mammal research in the Arctic are eligible to receive the Stuart Innes memorial student travel bursery. This bursary helps to support a post-secondary student's travel to the Society's biennial conference.

General travel grant applications closed

Notification of the general student travel grant awards was completed Wednesday 15 July 2009. If you have any questions, please contact the SMM Student Member-at-Large, Lynne Williams, at lynnee.williams@duke.edu.

If you are granted an award, you will need to make sure you register for the conference by the end of the early registration period (20 July, 2009) or the award will be given to someone else.

To qualify for this grant, you needed to:

  1. make sure you are a current SMM student member at the time of submission,
  2. be currently enrolled as a student at a recognized academic institution,
  3. be first author on an accepted oral or poster presentation, and
  4. register for the conference by the early registration deadline.
