The Society for Marine Mammalogy is a scientific society that promotes the advancement of and disseminates information about marine mammal research and conservation.
While the members of SMM are actively engaged in marine mammal research, education, and conservation, please note that the SMM itself does not offer employment, internship, or volunteer opportunities.
SMM members benefit from a subscription to the journal Marine Mammal Science; access to a Members' Area website with job postings, a member directory, and quarterly newsletters; and reduced registration fees for the Biennial Conferences on the Biology of Marine Mammals.
Additionally, the SMM supports and encourages its student members by offering decreased membership fees and further reduced conference fees, raising funds to assist student travel and activities at the conference, and bestowing several awards for outstanding student achievement in research presentation.
